My experience was great and their steak is delicious!!
Understaffed and a very dark atmosphere, but everyone was very polite and courteous. Ordered stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer, which was delicious; while the ribeye I ordered was tough and had a lot of gristle.
The food is great and Tom, our water was THE BEST!!
Seriously been here for over 1 hr and havent received any food. Manager was rude when we came in stating we had to wait bc of a party of 8 coming in..which never did. NO GLUTEN pizza which says they have some on the internet. Plenty of other places that are better for the price.
Really friendly staff. We just needed a quick bite while we waited for friends and they set us up with a pizza and drinks. Very accommodating. Pizza was actually not bad.
Came in with a group of 40 people. Service speed was to be expected for such a large group. Honestly, once food was ordered, it came out quicker than expected. Food was pretty good and they have average prices. The best part was our wait staff. Our waitresses were phenomenal! Sometimes restaurants hate large groups, but our ladies were happy and pleasant the entire time! Will definitely recommend.
Had a great meal. The restaurant is in need of a makeover. Getting a stale air feel. Let's spend some money making the place feel fresh and clean. I'm kinda scared to see what the kitchen looks like. Food was good. Server was manageable.
The food was very small portioned, and the service was really bad. The sandwiches were premade and couldn't have any changes added to them. The food wasn't the best quality either. It was ok, but could use some dramatic improvement.
Good food and nice atmosphere. Huge menu selection which to be honest seemed overwhelming because of so many choices. Prices were decent. Beer selection was decent. Overall not bad.
If I was rating this on food alone, it would get 5 stars. If I was rating it on service, it would be one star, so I split the difference at two. The food was phenomenal as always, but the service was terrible. Several of the things we ordered were wrong, it took a long time to get service or even seated, and an automatic gratuity was added to my bill on a party of just four. I dont mind auto-gratuity fornthe standard parties of 6 or more, but for a family of four having dinner, this was preposterous. I'm a generous tipper, but on a night the restaurant wasn't even at 25% capacity, my service should've been better and there should have been no gratuity added. I'm sure I will return at some point, though, the food was that good and I've never had this service this bad at Caleco's before. I hope this is the exception rather than the rule.
Today was a horrible experience. The restaurant was not busy yet we waited an hour to get our entrees. Two of the entrees were not as described in the menu. Such as the lemon pepper white fish, doesn't say it comes with a white gravy. The person who ordered said food is lactose intolerant. He wouldn't have ordered it if the menu had mentioned that. We ordered the chop steak it came out cold and the fries with it were hard and cold. 3 of our 6 entrees were sent back and taken off our bill. Maybe it was a bad day. As we were leaving there was a couple with the same complaints as us. Took too long, food was cold, and overall not happy with their experience. I would not recommend this to anyone.
It took over an hour to get our food. They said they had gluten free pizza and the website lied. There was only a few tables by us and we are still waiting for our food. If I could have have them negative stars I sure would have. I don't recommend this restaurant at all.
I ordered food to go and walked to pick it up. When I got there, I was informed by the bartender the kitchen had closed. I was hungry from driving in from Nashville, so the bartender went out of her way to get me a pizza. She had one made for her but gave it to me instead!! Awesome bartender and the pizza was great, thanks!!
Fun downtown st.louis restaurant good people, great prices, amazing food ...
If you all are not open or don’t stay open until 3a.m it would be great to update that on your website. I just walked there to order and they’re closed, when the website says 3a.m! It sucks that I have to leave this type review my 1st time trying to try it out!
We waited awhile for our food, but when it came out it was hot, fresh, and super yummy. It isn't the BEST food ever, but the price matches what you get and how much you get with it. Also the root beer floats are to die for. Atmosphere is fun, friendly, and casual.
I met a colleague here for breakfast right when they opened at 7:00am. The waiter was attentive and personable. The food came out quickly and tasted of high quality. The breakfast pizza was especially good. We were one of only a few patrons there at opening, so there wasn't much going on in the way of atmosphere, but it was clean and the set up was comfortable. The prices were in line with what you'd expect to pay downtown. Overall, a great option to grab a quick bite downtown.
Caleco's has amazing food and stuff wait staff. They took care of us quickly while still taking COVID precautions. I'd definitely recommend trying this restaurant out.
Shrimp scampi was terrible. The chicken penne was gross . They couldn’t even make good Mac n cheese. We also had the pleasure of watching a homeless guy beg for money directly in front of the windows the whole time. We only stopped for one night in St. Louis to see the arch. Wish I would have ate at the Hampton which is where we stayed. Only thing I would say good about this place was the service.
We were in St. Louis five years ago and came here for a steak and some ribs, both were fantastic. This time, we brought our kids and the hostess was fantastic even though kids are super loud. She purchased a ball out of the claw machine for them and everything! Nice environment too with an interesting model train that runs above the bar.
Pretty good food. The hamburger rollups were yummy
The waiter was nice, however tried to make us pay for a second time without even getting our food. The food looked very unappetizing and the taste didnt make up for it. The one dish looked like something youd see as vomit in a bad sfx movie. Not to mention the food we received we didnt order. Very unhappy with this place. I hate leaving bad reviews but this was uncalled for.
Decent place. The way they handle customer it’s very nice. Salad was good, unfortunately grilled Chicken was cold
Friendly waiter but wasted two hours here and didn’t even get dinner on New Year’s Eve because their kitchen was so backed up ( and we got seated at 7:10pm. Finally asked the waiter if our food was cooking an hour and a half after we sat and he said it was about fourth in line still so I paid for our drinks and bolted. They need to not be open on NYE or adjust their approach maybe with a smaller easier to execute menu for holidays. The mozzarella sticks were amazing though not gonna lie. And like most people say on here, yes, the place is a little dirty.
The calicos house salad was very good the hot wings we're good the pizza was fair and the mozzarella cheese triangles were very good we had two Fritz's Root Beer ....be careful they do add gratuity in it was around $10 on our order $60 the waitress was very nice and friendly the atmosphere was good... they spaced you 6 feet apart and followed the CDC guidelines for the covid-19. I would recommend to others there are not a lot of places that you can dine in at this time it was good to feel a little normal again.
Off to a bad start. Our party was scorned for not wearing masks inside. Had it been posted outside, we would've obliged, but instead, the manager had a demeaning attitude towards us. We are from out of town, so we didn't know regulations, would've definitely appreciated someone talking to us like people, and not like dogs. Then, our waitress came over, really sweet older lady. Explained to us the regulations, and what we should expect. She was an excellent waitress, very kind. She single-handedly turned a 2 star review into 4 star.Food was good, service was excellent, but managment sucks.
Arrived at 5:45 and we didn’t get our food until 7:50. Very sweet waitress, but the other staff was not that great. They really weren’t that busy but they were so overwhelmed. Half of our meals came out and 30 minutes later the rest of our meals came out! Manager and other staff seemed frazzled. The kitchen did not seem to care that they were so behind. Really bad experience, would not recommend.
Cajun pasta is honestly not that good. The air was not working in the building and our orders continued to get mixed up. The waitress was trying though so i appreciate her but as far as the overall service goes for the entire team, not too good at all. I don’t think I’ll be coming back.
Way to go. Service was fast, food was hot, and loved the music. The steak and potato soup makes you want seconds and thirds. Pizzas are really good for the crust pizzas. The meatball sandwich could use more marinara. Ask for a side of it. The menu is massive. So much stuff it’s distracting.
Good food. Fast service
Went here for a quick bite before heading out of St. Louis. This place is a bar like area with a pretty interesting interior. Once we got there we ended up ordering the following:* fried raviolis - these are filled with beef and they are crunchy! These also came with marinara sauce and together these were decent. I wanted to try it because it's a popular thing to eat in St. Louis but thought they were overall okay* ooey gooey cake - definitely liked this more and would definitely try again!
Staff was friendly but we didn't see them much. Food was really slow to come out and didn't come out together. Wife's food tasted like a big piece of oregano and she didn't eat it. Waitress apologized and offered to have it remade but no offer to remove it from the ticket. We were just ready to go at that point.
Terrible!! Paid for order online just to have to wait in the carry out line for ppl who are placing orders. That's a huge inconvenience. Need to be smoother. They didnt give me my pizza and I almost forgot it. The pizza was ok. I got the honey glazed wings and I wish I had gotten hot. Dont like the flavor at all. I also asked for the wings to be well done and they were not crispy at all. I paid for grilled chicken to be in my caesar salad and they did not put chicken in my salad. They got the request for the club salad right though. We ask for no ham or salami and if possible to sub them for grilled chicken and they did that.Heard their salads were good and they are. Their homemade croutons are bomb. Not an overall good experience.
Caleco's in downtown St. Louis is an ideal restaurant to visit pre-game before attending a Cardinals, Blues or other event live. It is also conveniently located within close walking distance to the Gateway Arch National Park. The menu at Caleco's offers a variety of food selection. Whenever I go to Caleco's the food quality is very good and the staff members are helpful. The staff always does an excellent job taking care of visitors. Five star customer service! Thank you!
The staff and food are amazing! Came in from a late flight thirsty and starving! Great beer on tap and food is extremely satisfying!! I will definitely be back on my next trip through St. Louis!!!
First restaurant we ordered to go when we arrived in St. Louis, and what a downer. Please, don't order their Marsala Chicken and Spaghetti, and better yet, don't go here. Food were awfully disgusting! Frozen and sour food is not worth $16. Unfriendly, unwelcoming and very slow staff. AND Please water all your plants! I feel bad for them.
I went there last night with my father at 10pm. They gave us a menu and let is order a drink. As we went went to order our food they said they just realized the cooks had left and went home!!!! Although they do not close until 12a. We left and ate at hooters and came back for drink . When we returned people had food! And we were told they opened back up but it was limited menu. I mentioned i thought the cooks went home. The bartender said she didn't know and sorry. Horrible experience, maybe they only serve local . Idk
The staff seemed friendly and tried hard but my steak was a terrible cut, thin with terrible marbling and excess fat and gristle that did not justify the price tag, my cocktails were made wrong, they forgot both of my sides and even extra charged me for one of the sides they forgot.I try to be understanding but my food was bad, the service although friendly and polite had too many mistakes....and the pricing did not warrant the quality of food... I dont wish them ill, but I cannot in good conscience recommend them.
I was very disappointed in the food! The service was great and all the staff were pretty friendly. Rolls served with dinner were a bit sweet and warm when they came to the table, very tasty!! The ribs were really good and the barbecue sauce they send on them is nice and smokey. The pizza was awful!! I'm not sure if the original/default pizza sauce is what made it so or the cheese but together it was almost inedible. Steer clear of the fried rice, it has almost a teriyaki taste. Yuck!
Professional and courteous staff. Good food
First time here, and the food was horrible. Very bland, waiter was nice at first but when they messed up on my food they got super mad. Horrible place wouldn’t recommend at all.
My wife and I were staying at the Hyatt Regency hotel overnight and we were joined by our grandson who lives in the area. We decided to go to Caleco's restaurant for supper. We were seated promptly and our server, Alex, greeted us like we were old friends. He displayed an air of professionalism that was very refreshing. This put all parties at ease. His prompt delivery of items allowed time to get to know each other. His kind demeanor and quick wit made the meal very enjoyable The Filet Mignon that I had was fantastic it melted in my mouth. My wife had little to say initially as she was busy eating but when she finished she had nothing bad to say about the food at all. First time coming to this establishment but when we come back we will stop by. We hope to see Alex too. He's a keeper
Very good experience loved the food, especially the hamburger rolls, and our server was polite and fast even tho it was busy, very impressed
Always a great time. Love their food.
Good food at a good price. The employees are friendly and take good care of the guests. You're in the heart of downtown St Louis, so it's a great place to eat if you are catching a ball game or just walking around seeing the area.
Three stars for the food....which was great the wings...chicken nachos....shrimp cocktail...and ravioli was on point.....but the wait was too long....took about an hour to get food....smmfh....other than that....Ill go back....
Very nice and authentic and location is great. The servers are great and the food is tasty with very generous portions.. Prices are great too... If you are in the mood for italian this is you place
Waited hour for my food employees getting into it bout to fight I've had good experiences here but 7/18 was horrible.
Worst service I've ever had. Impolite staff and rude server.
